Greetings from basic training

Hello! Just popping in to tell you all I'm alive! I've made it through basic training and I'm on my way to AIT (advance training specific to my job!) only 4-5 more months of ugly bunks and sharing rooms then it's off to start decorating again! I miss all the prettiness of my favorite blogs and can't wait to catch up on what everyone's been up to these past few months!

Just for fun this is what I've been living in the last 11 weeks!

I'll be back soon enough! Miss you all so much!

be still my heart

Can someone please tell me how I've been so horribly out of the loop when it comes to Ikea's Blog/website Life at Home?!

If you're out of the loop like I am I URGE you, no F- that I'm begging you to check it out. It's a perfect example of why I love Ikea so much.

Here are some of my favorite images from my 5+ hour long browse.

life's busy sometimes

Just wanted to pop in with some good news! I'll be posting some great decorating and diy stuff in the near future. I just moved in with a friend (while I await basic training) and she's given me the go ahead to go crazy with her place. I can't wait to share what I'm planning.

Also, some may think it's weird but I had the opportunity to trash my wedding dress this past weekend with a photographer friend, Laura Burnes. I had a blast and can NOT wait to see the rest of the photos. Be sure to pop over and check out her work. She's kind of amazing! ;)

throw some glitter make it rain

My B.F.F. Kate had a spectacularly themed birthday party this past weekend, in honor of her awesomeness and her birthday I thought I'd dedicate an entire post to the theme of her party.

I'm in love with all things sparkly and glittery so her "glitter" themed party was pure perfection. Cleaning up afterward from all the "glitter bombs" however is going to be a pain!

My outfit from the party!

xxo lovelies!

dear friends,

Hi everyone, I know I've been gone for a while and I hope you'll forgive me. I just wanted to stop in real quickly and talk to all of you! There's been a lot of big changes in the Domestic Jenny household, I think of all you wonderful "followers" as friends so I figured I'd take a minute to fill you in.

First and probably the biggest change is that I'm now single. Mr. H and I decided to part ways, we've done so on fairly good terms and it's the right decision for us right now. I'm sad, of course, but I'm mostly happy about it because I know it's whats going to be best in the long run.

Most of the other changes are a pretty direct reflection of my single status.

I'm moving, again. No clue where at the moment but it's probably going to be a very cheap apartment somewhere with roommates. Projects and decorating are going to be put on the back burner until I'm at my permanent new place. Of course I'll still do some arranging and re-arranging with the items I already have so I'll be sure to fill y'all in on those!

Now about my permanent new place...  I have just started the process of joining the United States Army. I've literally just taken the ASVAB and started taking to a recruiter so I'm not sure if it'll be a few months, or a year before I leave for basic. I'm really VERY excited about my decision and I can't wait to get out of my current town and start a new chapter in my life. If any of you have first hand experience about the process and being a female in the military I'd love to hear. Shoot me and e-mail and lets chat... jennynicoleaustin@me.com.

Now, what does all this mean for the blog? I've decided I definitely want to keep the blog going. I don't think however that I can keep myself and you readers entertained talking about the few projects around the house I may complete. So...

If there aren't any objections I'm thinking of adding some new elements. Possibly some fashion, beauty, books, food, and anything else that fills my life.

I'd love suggestions from you guys on things you'd like me to write about too! Leave them in the comments or send me an e-mail!

Thanks for sticking around, You'll be hearing/seeing more of me in the future!

lots of love!

xxo, jenny

yellow, like the sunshine

I'm only slightly obsessed with the color yellow lately, and I've been thinking about adding it into the living room...

Here are some of the 84759384753495 inspiration photos I've been drooling over.

I may or may not have already embarked on a quick project to bring some yellow into the living room, but thats a whole different post.

p.s. I know I've been a sucky blogger lately, but this whole school thing is a lot more work than I expected. Now that Mr. H is home I'm going to bribe him to take some photos of the new apartment and I promise to share soon! Plus I've got a few diy projects in the making that I can't wait to share!

p.p.s. I love each and every one of you and want to say, THANK YOU for sticking around!!!

oops shopping

Moving is such a pain! One of the worst parts of moving is the inevitable breaking of something. No matter how well I pack I always end up breaking at least one thing.

This move was no different, well it was a sadder break... I drop my entire box of dishes, 90% of them broke. Plates, bowls, cups, service for 12 gone in a blink of an eye. :(((

Only good thing about this, I get to buy new stuff.

calla - CB2

terrain - CB2

modern - CB2

Organic Shaped dinnerware - West Elm

Skyn - Ikea

So what do you think? I'm looking for a white dish that's a little different, a modern or organic shape.
Have you seen any other plates that fit this description, please share if so!

p.s. we're 80% moved in so I'll be taking photos of the apartment today and sharing them on the blog this week!
